Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a van alight on the A2 in-between the junctions for the Darenth Interchange and Bean, Dartford.
Three fire engines were sent the scene and crews wore breathing apparatus while using hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported and the cause is not yet known.
