Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on the M20, near to Junction 6 for Maidstone town centre.
Two fire engines attended the coast-bound carriageway and crews wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental.
