Our internal services teams help to make this possible through their skills and expertise which extends across all the organisation and the services we provide.

Community resilience
Our Resilience team work with our key partners with emergency planning to ensure we’re prepared for major incidents. They help run multi-agency training, exercises, and learning from incidents to improve preparedness.
They work with the Kent Resilience Team, which brings together representatives from Kent Fire and Rescue Service, Kent County Council, Kent Police, 19 Category 1 responders, over 100 Category 2 responders, and voluntary sector organisations to enhance resilience across Kent and Medway.
Data and intelligence
Our Data and Intelligence team play an important role at KFRS. They gather information and data, which informs our decision making for important policies and strategies. They also help with performance reporting, helping teams to identify trends and meet the needs of our customers.
Community insight and partnership
With a focus on preventative work, education and helping our customers live safer lives, the collaboration team are central to ensuring we reach out to everyone. They explore and develop the most effective and beneficial ways of working with our customers, colleagues and other agencies. They also work closely with underrepresented groups to make sure they feel welcome and included, but it doesn’t stop there …
The collaboration team also carry out research to ensure the work we do is effective and allows us to reach out to and engage with as many of our customers as possible. This research also helps other teams in KFRS to plan the most effective customer engagement activities
Engagement
The Engagement team promote safety messages to our customers – online, at events and through the media. They support our colleagues to carry out their roles through internal communications and digital learning, as well as managing our Volunteers team.
Finance and insurance
Our finance and insurance team supports the organisation with budgeting, planning and financial management. They also provide advice and support with insurance, to help the organisation deliver its services.
Fleet and equipment services
Our vehicles are essential to what we do. Our fleet and equipment services team make sure all our vehicles and equipment are there to support our teams with their work – whether it’s buying new vehicles or maintenance of our fleet, the team ensure we’re there for our customers in times of need.
Health and safety
Health and Safety is at the forefront of what we do. Through carrying out risk assessments, providing training and helping to develop safe ways of working, the team help to make sure everyone is safe.
Human resources
The HR team manage recruitment and work alongside managers to identify skills and training to help everyone reach their full potential. They provide advice, guidance and help to all our colleagues, along with running our leadership and development, and wellbeing work.
IT
IT systems and equipment are essential for the smooth running of KFRS. The team is responsible for the management and upkeep of all our IT systems and software.
Project management and business planning
Business change includes our project and business analysts who work on key projects for the organisation, as well as providing advice and assistance for project development. They consider and appraise work that needs to be undertaken, map the impact of projects and help to find solutions where a project is likely to take longer than anticipated
Property and facilities
The Property and Facilities team is responsible for the maintenance and management of our 56 fire stations, training sites and our headquarters, ensuring they are great places to work.
Procurement
Our Procurement team ensures we get the best value for money on all goods, services, and works we buy. They providing procurement and commercial advice to all our teams, and makes sure we comply with legislation, regulations, and best practice guidelines.
