Fire safety risk assessment: 5-step checklist
Prepared by the government, this helpful checklist is designed to help complete a fire safety risk assessment simple premises. It's available in two versions - one as a PDF with an illustrative diagram and handy tick-boxes to help you work through your assessment, and an accessible version which lists the questions you will need to ask.
Evacuation plan template
As part of your fire risk assessment, you will need to consider your emergency fire evacuation plan. This will look at raising and sounding the alarm, actions your staff should take and your escape routes and exits. This useful template is designed to assist with preparing your plan.
Occupancy calculator
As part of their fire safety assessment, licensed premises will need to work out and provide us with information about the number of occupants for their premises and show how that figure is reached. This useful Occupancy Calculator sets out how to do this, with a useful example.

Our Business Property and Protection Portal is an on-line tool for businesses which can help you to risk assess and protect your premises, procedures and staff. The Portal uses your business postcode to identify specific safety risks in your area and provides relevant safety information to help business owners.
Business Fire Safety Awareness Tool
The Business Fire Safety Awareness Tool is fun and interactive. It provides small business owners and managers with a general overview of their responsibilities following a fire risk assessment and tests general fire safety knowledge in the workplace.It's free to use and was developed by the National Fire Chiefs Council in association with others.
