Folkestone and Hythe

Three people have been pulled to safety by firefighters after they got stuck in mud at Folkestone Harbour. The two women and a man were struggling to get our near The Stade, and had sunk waist deep when Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the emergency. Two fire engines and the water rescue unit was sent to the scene. Together with colleagues from the Coastguard, firefighters were able to reach them using mud paths, then with the help of an air lance the three were pulled out of the mud and carried back to dry land where they were placed into the care of paramedics from SECAmb.
