30+ Incident Sunday 15 November 2020 07:48
Maidstone, Swale, Tonbridge and Malling
Kent Fire and Rescue Service has received a number of calls today regarding concerns for rising flood water, flooded drives and small number of properties with minor flooding issues including homes in Tonbridge, Maidstone and Sheerness. There are also several roads that have become flooded and closed to traffic. There are a number of flood warnings in place across the county and more heavy rain is expected overnight. We are advising people to be aware of the flood risk in their area and to take action where it's needed and to sign up to the Environment Agency's flood alerts. - In an emergency if your property is flooding, you need rescuing and there is a risk to life, call 999 and ask for fire. - Check with vulnerable neighbours or relatives. If they are at risk of flooding, contact them to make sure they are prepared and know what to do should their home flood.- Never attempt to drive through flooded roads or fords. Water is often deeper than it looks and may be moving quite fast. Your vehicle may become stranded or be swept away and there may be hazards under the water.More advice is available on our website - search KFRS Flood
