Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire involving a number of garden sheds in Fox Street, Gillingham. Crews arrived to find a three garden sheds, several fence panels and a tree on fire at the rear of the property. Crews used hose reel jets and a main hose to extinguish the fire. There were no reported injuries. It's believed the fire was accidental and was possibly caused by discarded smoking materials. It's prompted firefighters to remind people who smoke to fully extinguish their cigarettes, pipes and cigars when they've finished smoking and to put the contents into a suitable fireproof container. As this fire has demonstrated throwing away any kind of smoking materials without due care and attention can lead to devastating fires that can have life changing consequences.
