Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire on Railway Road, Sheerness.

Two fire engines attended, and on arrival, crews found a mattress alight in an alleyway which had spread to a wooden door frame to a nearby building.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet and ventilated the property to clear any remaining smoke.

There were no reported injuries, and it is believed to be deliberate.
