Kent Fire and Rescue Service responded to a washing machine fire in Durban Road, Margate just before 7pm. Two fire engines were sent. Crews wore breathing apparatus and used a thermal image camera and high pressure hose reel to put the fire out. A special fan was used to clear smoke and fumes from the house.The occupant closed the internal doors before leaving their home, which helped contain the smoke damage to the kitchen. The washing machine was destroyed by fire. Fire crews left the property just before 8pm.
