Take part in our lithium-ion battery research

Lithium-ion batteries are found in re-chargeable devices such as mobile phones, laptops, and electric cars, scooters and bikes.

While the British Safety Council advise that ‘Lithium-ion battery failures are relatively rare’, they also point out that ‘...in the event of a malfunction, they can represent a serious fire risk’.

In order help keep the people of Kent and Medway safe, it's important Kent Fire and Rescue Service   understand these fire risks. By undertaking research into how people use and dispose of lithium-ion batteries, we can improve our understanding and ability to deal with such risks.

How you can help

We need to understand what the residents of Kent and Medway think about lithium-ion batteries to help us develop our safety messaging around their use and disposal, and help us tailor our services to meet your needs.

By taking 15 minutes to answer a questionnaire about this important subject, you can help us to improve our safety messaging and services in relation to lithium-ion battery fires. It will also help us to make sure we are meeting the needs of people living in Kent and Medway.

 The questionnaire will ask:

  • What types of re-chargeable electrical devices you own or use.
  • Your knowledge of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Your attitudes and behaviours around safe charging and storage of re-chargeable electrical devices.
  • Your knowledge, attitudes and behaviours around disposing of re-chargeable electricals and loose lithium-ion batteries.
