Firefighting operations at the scene of a fire on Dartford Heath have now been completed. Crews have been working their way across the charred land throughout the day, using flexi-packs to extinguish any remaining hotspots. Ten hectares of heathland have been destroyed by the fire. The cause has not yet been confirmed.

One fire engine remains at the scene of the fire on Dartford Heath, and firefighters are working their way across the charred land in search of remaining hotspots to extinguish, to prevent the fire from reigniting.

Firefighting operations are ongoing on Dartford Heath with four fire engines in attendance. Crews are continuing their efforts throughout the affected areas, and are working on any remaining hotspots.
Firefighters are reminding people to ensure you avoid the heath today wherever possible, including if you are walking a dog. Although some of the ground looks charred, the heat beneath is still extremely hot and can cause harm to people and animals.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remain at the scene of a fire on Dartford Heath, with crews maintaining a watching brief to ensure any hotspots are out. Two fire engines remain at the scene of a fire on Dartford Heath where approximately 10 hectares of land has been affected. Crews are making good progress and advice to keep windows and doors closed in the local area due to smoke is still currently in place. Please pass this message onto anyone who may not have access to the internet.
Firefighters are reminding people to avoid walking around the area tomorrow as there may still be multiple hotspots. There will also be remaining toxins and fumes present for some days to come which can be bad for the health of people and animals.

Firefighters are making good progress in tackling the fire on Dartford Heath and the smoke plume is reducing. Seven fire engines remain at the scene but this is being scaled down.
Crews are now putting a plan in place to prevent fire spread overnight, and are still advising people living in the area to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke coming from the incident.
