Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a van alight on the A249 near Stockbury, Maidstone. 

Two fire engines were sent to the Maidstone-bound carriageway, where crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using compressed air foam. 

One person was checked over by firefighters as a precaution, after inhaling some smoke. 

The carriageway was closed while crews worked at the scene, but has since reopened. 

The cause is not known but is believed to be accidental.
