Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a vehicle alight on the A2, London Bound, near Bean, Dartford.
Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets.
No injuries were reported and duty of care was left with Highways Agency.
The cause is thought to be accidental.
