Update: 6:30pm All firefighting operations at the scene of a building fire on Gravelly Bottom Road in Maidstone have now been completed, and crews have left the site. Earlier advice to keep windows and doors closed in the area has also now been lifted. ...........................................Update: 12:00pm Crews are making steady progress in extinguishing the fire on Gravelly Bottom Road in Kingswood, Maidstone. Three fire engines and a bulk water carrier remain at the scene, and firefighters are using main jets and hose reel jets to tackle the blaze. Kent Police have also been on the scene to assist in establishing the cause of fire. ............................................Update: 7:45am Three fire engines remain at the scene of a commercial building fire on Gravelly Bottom Road in Kingswood, Maidstone. Earlier advice issued to nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to smoke is still in place..............................................Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently responding to a commercial building fire on Gravelly Bottom Road in Maidstone. Four fire engines and a bulk water carrier have been sent to the scene to tackle the flames. Drivers and other road users are advised to avoid the area while crews deal with the blaze, and residents living nearby are being advised to close windows and doors due to a large smoke plume coming from the fire.
