Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to Rycaut Close in Parkwood, Gillingham to reports of a house fire. Two fire engines attended and crews wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to attack the blaze in the kitchen and living room. The fire is believed to have started in the tumble dryer in the kitchen. There were no reported injuries, but sadly a cat died, despite efforts from firefighters who provided oxygen via an animal oxygen mask.
