LATEST: 7:30amOne fire engine remains at the scene of a fire at a furniture store in the High Street, Farningham. Although the fire was contained to an area of the single storey shop the building has been severely damaged. The fire is now out and the cause is yet to be determined. UPDATE: 4:20amFirefighters have also treated two people; a woman in her 60s and a man in his 70s, for the effects of breathing in smoke. UPDATE: 3:45amCrews wearing breathing apparatus are working hard to tackle the fire and have made good progress and have contained it to a section of the single storey building, that measures 15mtrs by 5mtrs. A height vehicle has also been sent to the scene to tackle the fire from above. Crews are using main jets and hose reel jets to fight the fire.UPDATE 3:20amKent Fire and Rescue Service is at the scene of a large fire in a furniture shop on the High Street in Farningham near Dartford. Eight fire engines have been sent to the incident and crews are working hard to tackle the fire and to protect neighbouring properties. A safety warning has been issued to people living near the fire to keep windows and doors closed due to the large volumes of smoke. There are no reported injuries at this stage and the cause of the fire isn't known.
