Update 11/05/2021: Following an investigation, it’s believed the incident was caused accidentally due to a gas leak from a portable heater. ................................Update 05/05/2021: Fire investigation officers from Kent Fire and Rescue Service have returned to the scene today, to assist colleagues from Kent Police with ongoing forensic investigation work..................................Update 18:35All firefighting activity is now complete and the fire crews have left the scene.Fire investigation teams will be reattending the scene tomorrow to continue the investigation into the cause. .................................Update 12.55pm: The incident has now been scaled down to three fire engines, a height vehicle and the technical rescue unit. Firefighters are damping down remaining hotpots and working to make the scene safe.Nearby residents affected are being supported by British Red Cross and The Salvation Army. The cause of the explosion has not yet been confirmed, but is not being treated as suspicious. A South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) spokesperson said:“Ambulance crews including our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) have attended the scene along with police and fire colleagues. The air ambulance service also joined us at the scene.“Two patients have been taken to hospital in London with serious injuries. A further five patients have been taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford with injuries thought to be less serious.”.................................Update 9.40am: Crews are working to extinguish any remaining signs of fire following an explosion at a house in Mill View, in Willesborough, Ashford. Seven fire engines and a height vehicle are at the scene, as well as a team from the Technical Rescue Unit. Crews are working with Kent Police and SECAmb, including its Hazardous Area Response team, and the air ambulance has also sent two road vehicles to the scene.
