Update: 6:45pmFirefighters are making steady progress in extinguishing a large outdoor fire involving a number of caravans on Birchwood Road in Dartford. Three fire engines remain at the scene and crews have been using main jets and water from a hydrant to tackle the blaze and dampen down remaining hot spots. No casualties have been reported and the cause is not yet known. Previous advice to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to the smoke, has now been lifted. .................................Kent Fire and Rescue Service is currently at the scene of an outdoor fire involving caravans on Birchwood Road in Dartford. Eight fire engines and a bulk water carrier have been sent to the scene to tackle the blaze, and crews are advising anyone living or working nearby to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution due to the smoke. Firefighters are also advising the public to avoid the area where possible whilst crews tackle the fire. More to come.
