Update at 7:30pm on 21 April:
Firefighting operations are now complete on Crabble Hill in Dover following a fire at a block of flats.
Crews made sure that there were no hotspots and the building is left in the duty of care of Kent Police while we undertake further investigations into the cause take place.
Update at 9:15am on 21 April:
Attendance at this incident has been reduced to two fire engines. The fire is now extinguished, and firefighters remain on scene to check for any remaining hotspots and to maintain a watching brief.
An investigation will take place, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Update at 4:30pm on 20 April:
Twelve fire engines and a height vehicle remain at the scene of a fire at a block of flats on Crabble Road, Dover.
The number of fire engines will be reduced shortly, but crews will remain on site overnight.
Firefighters are systematically working through the building to ensure all hotspots are fully dampened down.
Kent Police are also at the scene, but the cause of the fire is not yet known.
Initial update:
Kent Fire and Rescue Service have been tackling a fire overnight involving a block of flats on Crabble Road in Dover.
12 fire engines and two height vehicles are at the scene, where firefighters and our Technical Rescue team continue working to control and extinguish the fire.
On arrival, crews assessed the situation and began evacuating the 42 flats. All residents were accounted for, and Dover District Council is now working to offer support and provide emergency accommodation to those affected.
The KFRS Volunteer Response Team also attended, providing welfare support for the crew and assistance to displaced residents.
Two people were checked over by SECAmb paramedics for smoke inhalation and investigations into the cause is ongoing.
