Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a garage alight in Lade Fort Crescent, Romney Marsh. 

Three fire engines attended and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the flames using hose reel jets. 

Two people were checked over at the scene as a precaution, after showing symptoms of shock and smoke inhalation.  

It’s believed the fire started accidentally when a tumble dryer caught alight, possibly due to a fault. 

People are reminded to check white goods are in good working order before use, follow manufacturer’s guidelines, and to register electrical appliances for any product recalls.
