Final update:
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called at 4.52pm on 24 December to reports of a house fire in Sunnyside Road, in Sandgate, Folkestone.
At the height of the fire, nine fire engines, a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were in attendance. The technical rescue unit, KFRS' volunteer response team and Kent Police also attended the home, where firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using hose reel jets.
Sadly, a man was confirmed deceased at the scene.
The cause of the fire is indeterminate but is not being treated as suspicious, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
