Final update at 2.40pm: 

A fire involving a commercial premises and flats in Luton Road, Chatham, is now out and crews have left the scene. 

The cause remains under investigation. 

Update at 9.40am: 

Three fire engines remain at the scene of a fire involving a commercial premises and flats in Luton Road, Chatham. 

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued a woman and two children from one of the properties, who were assessed at the scene and passed into the care of ambulance crews, before being taken to hospital for further treatment. 

Crews have extinguished the flames using hose reel jets, and are continuing to dampen down any remaining hotspots. The technical rescue unit was also sent to the incident. 

KFRS' Volunteer Response Team is on-hand to offer support to affected residents, and officers from Kent Police are in attendance to assist with road closures. 

An investigation into the cause is underway.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is responding to reports of a fire in Luton Road, Chatham. 

Five fire engines are in attendance, as well as the technical rescue unit, and crews are working to extinguish the flames. 

It's believed a fire started in a commercial premises and spread to nearby flats.
