Firefighting work is now complete at the scene of a fire involving a large compost heap in Burham Road, Rochester, and crews have left the scene. 

No injuries were reported and the cause is not yet known.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remains in attendance at a fire involving a large compost heap in Burham Road, Rochester. 

The earlier message advising people living and working nearby to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution, due to smoke coming from the incident has now been lifted.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service remains in attendance at a fire involving a large compost heap in Burham Road, Rochester. 

Three fire engines and a water carrier are at the scene, where crews are using hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. 

The technical rescue team is also in attendance and firefighters are using a telehandler machine to help break down the heap. 

People living and working nearby are still advised to keep their windows and doors closed as a precaution, due to smoke coming from the incident.
