Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire in a field of cut grass on Monkshill Road in Hernhill, Faversham.

Five fire engines and an all-terrain vehicle attended, and crews extinguished the fire using hose reel jets and other wildfire equipment.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is not known.

During spells of hot weather, the ground can get very dry, and there is a higher risk of a fire starting. Members of the public can help to reduce this risk by avoiding having bonfires, disposing of smoking materials responsibly, and by taking extra safety steps if you're having a barbecue.

Disposable barbecues should be placed on a flat, non-flammable surface, and only throw them away once cold - whether that’s in a bin or at a waste site.
