Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a flat fire on Goldfinch Close in Faversham. Two fire engines were sent to the scene and crews arrived to a fire in the kitchen area. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, before clearing the property of smoke with a high pressure fan. The fire is believed to be accidental.
Crews are now reminding members of the public to ensure they have working smoke alarms on each floor of their property, after this resident was able to evacuate safely from their flat after being alerted by their smoke alarm.
