Update at 11.25am on 5 March: 

Firefighting has now finished and crews have left the scene. 

Update at 8am on 5 March: 

One fire engine remains in attendance at a house in Teston Road, West Malling, following a roof fire. 

The fire is now believed to be out and crews are monitoring the property to check for any remaining hotspots. 

One person was passed into the care of SECAmb paramedics as a precaution, after inhaling smoke during the incident. They had also sustained slight burns to their arm and and hand. 

The cause is not yet known. 

Update at 10.12pm: 

Four fire engines and a height vehicle remain in attendance at a roof fire at a house in Teston Road, West Malling. 

Crews are continuing to make steady progress and the earlier advice to close windows and doors is no longer in place. However, Teston Road remains closed.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance at a roof fire at a house in Teston Road, West Malling. 

Seven fire engines and a height vehicle have been sent to the scene, as well as the technical rescue unit, where crews are working to extinguish the fire. 

KFRS’ volunteer response team is also on-hand to offer support to affected residents. 

People in the local area are advised to keep windows and doors closed, due to smoke coming from the incident.

Teston Road is also expected to be closed for several hours, while firefighting operations continue.
