House fire in Herne Bay

Final update:

Firefighting operations have now finished at a house in Grand Drive, Herne Bay. Earlier warnings to avoid the area, due to road closures, have now been lifted.

Earlier advice for people in the area to close their windows and doors due to smoke has now been lifted.

At the height of the incident, six fire engines, a height vehicle, were in attendance as crews, wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames using hose reel jets and main jets. 

The cause is not yet known, but is being investigated.

Update at 3am:

If you are travelling or planning to travel near Grand Drive in Herne Bay we are still advising you to avoid the area as crews are still dealing with a house fire.

The fire is now out but crews are still at the scene dampening down hot spots.

At the height of the incident, six fire engines and a height vehicle were in attendance as crews, wearing breathing apparatus, extinguished the flames using main jets and hose reel jets.

Two fire engines remain on scene.

The cause is not yet known. The building inspector is in attendance and Grand Drive is now open.

Crews are advising people living near Grand Drive in Herne Bay to close windows and doors due to large amounts of smoke coming from a house fire.

Six fire engines and a height vehicle are in attendance and crews, wearing breathing apparatus, are working to extinguish the flames. Residents evacuated the property before crews arrived.
