Update: 10:45am 7 September Firefighting operations at the scene of an industrial unit fire on Vicarage Lane in Hoo, concluded yesterday at 13:50pm. Crews have systematically worked their way through the site over the last two days to dampen down any remaining hot spots.Two industrial units were destroyed by the fire, which started on Friday 4 September. Previous advice to close windows and doors in the area of Grain and the Hoo peninsula, has now been lifted. No casualties were reported, and the cause is under investigation.............................................Update: 16:00pm Firefighters remain at the scene of an industrial unit fire on Vicarage Lane in Hoo, near Rochester. The incident has now been scaled down to four fire engines, and crews are expected to remain in attendance for at least the rest of today. Those who live close to the area of incident, are still being advised to close windows and doors as a precautionary measure. No casualties have been reported, and the cause has not yet been established. .............................................Update: 11:25am Five fire engines and a bulk water carrier remain at the scene of an industrial unit fire on Vicarage Lane in Hoo, near Rochester. Crews have been using main jets, water from a hydrant and ground monitors to tackle the blaze. A large amount of smoke is coming from the fire, and so those living or working close to the area of the fire and its smoke plume, which includes towards Grain and across the Hoo peninsula, are still being advised to close windows and doors as a precaution. South East Coast Ambulance, Kent Police and Medway Council's Emergency Planning Officers have also been in attendance.
