30+ Incident Monday 18 January 2021 22:00
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a chimney alight in Penshurst, Tonbridge Two fire engines attended the house in Grove Road and crews used chimney gear to extinguish the fire. It’s believed the fire started accidentally, when flames from a fireplace spread to the internal chimney. No casualties were reported. If you have a fireplace or log burner at home, you can help to reduce the risk of an emergency by ensuring your chimney and flue are inspected and swept at least once a year for coal, and twice if you are burning logs. Also, avoid overloading the grate or building fires too high, and always make sure to dispose of ash safely.
