Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire in a property on Farthingloe Road in Dover. Two fire engines were sent to the incident, and crews arrived to a fire in the kitchen. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to extinguish the blaze. The fire is believed to have started accidentally, due to a fault with an electrical appliance.

Following the incident, crews are reminding the public to keep all electrical appliances such as tumble dryers and washing machines in good working order, and to always register them with the manufacturer. It's also safer to ensure they're switched off whenever you head out or go to bed.
